This past Sunday we had the joy of kicking off the Advent season with some of the All Stars leading the Call to Worship. We had the joy of coming before the Lord and receiving Holy Communion. Last Sunday afternoon we gathered with over 550 people @ the Grand Prairie Center featuring the Mustard Seed Choir, Covenant Singers and Jubilee Ringers. It was one of those special Sundays to remember!
This Sunday we look forward with great anticipation to the second Sunday of Advent! Come early to get your regular seat! Invite friends to come and be with you! We will celebrate with the Hanging of the Greens and special music from our Jubilee Ringers and our All Star children creating a Live Nativity. Then the Annual Candlelight Community Musicale at First Baptist Church with our very own Soul Sisters singing.
Be sure and notice all the wonderful events for the month of December in this newsletter!
We are blessed at First UMC to have a wonderful staff that reaches out in every way to lift up Jesus Christ and be helpful to you and our community. I am indeed blessed to serve as your pastor and be a part of this caring staff.
This congregation is filled to the rim with caring, loving people! It is an honor to serve the Stuttgart Church of the Year for 2013.

This Sunday is Veterans Day. The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by
organizations and remarks from our nation’s leaders.
Today let us stop and thank God for all who have served the United States of America in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard. I want to personally say thank you to all who offer a prayer of thanks and protection for our son, Jonathan who is serving in the Army in Germany. We have received word that Jonathan will be going to Afghanistan next June. Joanie and I are looking forward to this Christmas because Jonathan as the song says “will be home for Christmas!” We have not seen him since September 2011. (Not counting face time on the internet)! Let us pray to God and say thank you, thank you, thank you for all our wonderful veterans. Our veterans will receive special recognition in the
worship hour this weekend.
This Sunday morning our focus will come from Ephesians 6:10-20. The sermon – “Thank God for Soldiers!”
